Rapper Yung Miami of the City Girls has confirmed the end of the rap duo. The confirmation came during an interview with Complex, where Miami addressed the poor performance of their last album, RAW, and the subsequent drift between her and JT.

The album’s failure to resonate with fans, selling only 10,000 units in its first week and landing at No. 117 on the Billboard 200, marked a significant downturn for the group.

This was a sharp decline from their previous album, City on Lock, which peaked at No. 30 on the chart, bolstered by hits like Jobs and Pussy Talk featuring Doja Cat.

Miami, known to be Diddy’s girlfriend, cited the duo’s different life paths and creative directions as the primary reasons for the split. While JT was on the West Coast, Miami remained in their hometown, leading to a natural divergence.

The rapper expressed that their projects were flourishing, but the magic they once had as a group was no longer there.

The City Girls had previously attributed’ RAW’s lackluster performance to poor management and timing. In an appearance on The Breakfast Club, JT admitted that they failed to promote the album adequately.

She also pointed out the current economic climate, suggesting that their brand of luxury rap might not resonate with audiences during tough times.

Since the release of RAW in October 2023, both Yung Miami and JT have been focusing on solo projects. However, their relationship seemed to strain further following a brief public disagreement on social media, which fans speculated was due to “sneak dissing.”

The breakup of the City Girls marks the end of a significant chapter in hip-hop. The duo, known for their energetic and unapologetic style, greatly influenced the genre.
