Young Thug’s legal team has filed a motion to modify one of the probation conditions outlined in his plea agreement for the YSL RICO case.
The rapper, whose real name is Jeffrey Williams, is currently prohibited from residing in or even visiting the Metro Atlanta area for the next decade as part of his plea deal. However, recent developments have prompted his attorneys to request a change.
According to court documents submitted on Thursday, December 5, the sentencing sheet was amended on November 8 to clarify the boundaries of the restricted area, placing one of Young Thug’s homes within the designated zone.
As part of the motion, his legal team is asking permission to occasionally reside in or visit his home in the Atlanta area. The home, already owned by Young Thug, would allow him to host family gatherings during holidays and for other lawful reasons. His attorneys also noted that his parole officer has no objection to the request.
The judge has not ruled on the motion, leaving the situation in legal limbo. In the meantime, Williams’ team continues to work on securing a favorable decision regarding his living arrangements.
Earlier this week, one of Young Thug’s lawyers discussed the rapper’s feelings about his plea deal on a YouTube channel. While Williams expressed happiness for his co-defendants, Yak Gotti and Shannon Stillwell, who were acquitted of most charges, there was also an element of regret.
He recognized that by choosing to accept the plea deal, he forfeited the opportunity to potentially walk free with a not-guilty verdict.
In addition to the restriction on his residency, Young Thug faces several other conditions as part of his probation. He is banned from making gang-related references in his music, prohibited from contacting most co-defendants, and required to undergo random drug tests.
The rapper must also deliver anti-gang and anti-gun violence presentations in schools and complete 100 hours of community service each year during his probation.
