Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan has been subpoenaed by the prosecution to testify in Young Thug’s ongoing RICO trial.
ThuggerDaily, a social media user, revealed that Thug’s former collaborator has been served a summons to appear as a witness at the trial. It is also reported that Quan previously gave a police statement that will be read in court.
However, it is not certain whether Quan will provide evidence against Thug when he appears on the witness stand.
Lil Wayne may testify in Young Thug trial
The trial may also see Lil Wayne take the stand. Fulton County prosecutors attempted to play videos of the rapper speaking about Thug in the courtroom, but Judge Ural Glanville refused to allow it unless Wayne testified himself.
The case relates to the 2015 shooting of Wayne’s tour bus, which the prosecution alleges was orchestrated by Thug. They claim he hired affiliate PeeWee Roscoe to carry out the act. Roscoe was eventually sentenced to 10 years in prison and 10 years of probation, but his conviction was overturned in 2018.
While Lil Wayne may end up in the courtroom, one rapper who will not be called to testify is Gunna. The YSL rapper, who previously accepted a controversial plea deal in the case, will not be called to take the stand after the judge ordered the prosecution to reduce the number of witnesses they planned to question.
The state originally put forward over 700 named witnesses, but now only around 200 could be called to participate in the trial. Gunna’s name was removed from the revised witness list, as was Thug’s brother Unfoonk, who was previously sentenced to over nine years in prison.
Birdman and YFN Lucci could also still be called to testify as they remain on the government’s witness list. Gunna has faced numerous accusations that he snitched on Young Thug to secure his plea deal, something he has repeatedly denied. Thugger, for his part, has never commented publicly on the rumors.
Following his plea deal, Gunna attempted to clarify his position by stating that he has not made any statements, been interviewed, cooperated, agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case, and has absolutely no intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.
