Young Thug has publicly criticized Billboard’s recently released list of the best female rappers of all time, which ranked Nicki Minaj at Number 1.

The rapper questioned the exclusion of his girlfriend, Mariah The Scientist, from the top 25 list, featuring artists like Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, Lil Kim, and Foxy Brown.

On April 9, Thug posted a comment on Akademiks’ Instagram asking, “Where Mariah at tho,” with a thinking face emoji. His comment quickly gained attention online, as fans debated the rankings and the absence of Mariah.

The Billboard list also included artists such as Queen Latifah, Eve, Remy Ma, and newer stars like Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and Latto.

Despite Mariah’s growing influence in the music scene, she was not among the names recognized by the publication, which led Thug to speak out in support of her.

This public display of support follows a rough patch in their relationship. In December, a leaked jail call revealed Thug admitting to talking to several women while incarcerated, a conversation that caused some tension between him and Mariah.

During the call, Thug shared that he would speak to at least 10 other girls just to pass the time and expressed his fear of hurting Mariah due to her strong feelings for him.
