City Authorities in Philadelphia have named a street after Will Smith for his contribution to the creative industry. The ceremony reportedly took place on Wednesday, March 26.
A portion of 59th Street, according to officials, would now be called Will Smith Way. The actor described the recognition as a “lifetime honour” when he took to social media on Thursday, March 27, to express appreciation.

He posted photos of the ceremony with himself, his mother, Caroline Bright, and Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker in the frame.
“Hey, Philly. I love you. I am yours, you are mine. I will see you on the Fourth of July,” Smith stated in a related video. Philadelphia Mayor Parker, 52, in a post, described Smith’s journey as inspiring.”

“From his roots of being born and raised in West Philadelphia to his rise as a global superstar, he’s shown us all what it means to dream big and work hard.
“We are incredibly proud to call Willsmith one of our own. His achievements are a reflection of the strength, resilience, and brilliance of Philadelphia’s people. As we rename 2000 N. 59th Street in Will’s honor today, let’s celebrate everything he represents — creativity, kindness, and the power of community,” the Mayor added.

The recognition comes ahead of Smith’s first full-length album, which will be ready on March 28. He is also set to begin his headline tour in the United Kingdom and Europe later this year.
Stating the dates on Instagram, he wrote: “I’m going on tour this summer! We’re hitting up the UK & Europe to bring you all the hits, some new joints, and a few surprises…All these years, I’ve never done a headline tour, and I can’t wait to see you guys!!”

“Tag a friend, tag all your friends, tag ya auntie and bring errbody! We’re gonna have some fun,” he added.
The tour is to support Based On A True Story, his first studio album in 20 years, which will be released on Friday, March 28.

The actor and musician would play at numerous European festivals, as well as his own headline concerts in Hamburg, Hanover, and Frankfurt.
In August, he’ll head to the UK, featuring at events at Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Cardiff’s Bute Park, Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse, London’s O2 Academy Brixton, and The Halls in Wolverhampton.
Sources say the tour will end with a performance at Zénith in Paris on September 2, 2025. Tickets for the tour would start selling at 10 am on Friday, March 21.
