BY Dora Abena Dzaka September 19, 2024 4:19 PM EDT

Eve has returned to the news, but it’s in a completely different form and has nothing to do with her rap but with her upcoming memoir.

Her debut album, Let There Be Eve…Ruff Ryders’ First Lady, launched Eve onto the music world in 1999.

Eve’s status as a trailblazer for women in hip-hop was cemented when the album sold over two million copies.

As a result, she became the third rapper to debut an album at the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

Her impact grew over time beyond just music as a result of her roles in movies, comedy “Eve,” and co-hosting CBS’s “The Talk.”

The Philadelphia native is now looking back on her extraordinary career in her first-ever memoir, Who’s That Girl? published 25 years after her debut album.

The former talk show host, actor, and rapper is sharing her life story.

She tells the unseen tales of her ascent to stardom, the difficulties she encountered in a male-dominated field.

Also her problems at Interscope Records, and the inner struggles she endured after the release of her fourth and final album, Lip Lock, in this insightful memoir.

Eve has disclosed that she was asked to write a book years ago, but she declined since at the time she was examining vulnerability.

But when the concept was put out by well-known hip-hop author and journalist Kathy Iandoli, the memoir was born.

Though she had previously turned down the idea, this time felt different.

She decided to proceed with the project with an eye toward her 25th anniversary, and the two worked fast to finish it in a year so that it could be released in time to commemorate the milestone of her debut.

Because she understood that everyone, no matter what business, has experienced comparable emotions at some point.

The 45-year-old shares her hardships and fears in ways she hadn’t previously, opening up about the difficulties of being utterly honest.

She delves into delicate subjects in the book, such as her experience with infertility and major life changes,

Such as quitting her record label after almost ten years and entering the Hollywood lifestyle to pursue an acting career.

She resorted to drugs and alcohol to deal with these overwhelming sentiments, which put her in a destructive cycle from which she was unable to escape.

Her struggle with anxiety and pressures ultimately resulted in depression.

She additionally weighs in on her relationship with other artists, like Nicki Minaj.

Her path has taken unexpected turns, as she considers them now that she lives in London with her 2-year-old son, Wilde Wolf, and her husband of 10 years, Maximilian Cooper.
