Former first lady Michelle Obama and her older brother Craig Robinson have launched a podcast in collaboration with the Obamas’ media company, Higher Ground.
The two Chicago natives are hosting the podcast “IMO: With Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson,” which aims to “uncover the shared experiences that connect us all.”
On the podcast, the former First Lady and Robinson, who is executive director of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, will discuss “everyday questions” about life, relationships, and the world at large.
The podcast will be hosting a special guest each week to tackle audience questions and offer advice, anecdotes, and lots of laughs.
According to the production company Higher Ground, Michelle Obama aims for the “IMO” podcast to be a space for “thoughtful conversations about life” and addressing “everyday questions shaping our lives, relationships, and the world around us.”
Michelle noted:
“With everything going on in the world, we’re all looking for answers and people to turn to. My brother Craig and I launched the IMO podcast to create a space for people to come as they are, ask honest questions, give their opinions, and have thoughtful conversations about life. There is no single way to deal with the challenges we may be facing — whether it’s family, faith, or our personal relationships — but taking the time to open up and talk about these issues can provide hope,”
Michelle’s brother Robinson, said he and his sister grew up talking through life’s big and small questions together.
“Now, we’re inviting listeners into that conversation, with the hope that it sparks new ideas, new perspectives, and creates the connection we could all use right now.”
The first two episodes of the podcast were aired on Wednesday, with new episodes released weekly.
Also, according to Higher Ground, Michelle and Robinson took the stage at SXSW in Austin, Texas, on Thursday to record a special episode of the podcast in front of an audience.
