Hollywood actress Vivica Fox says she had repeatedly turned down her role in the 2001 romantic comedy Two Can Play That Game before eventually agreeing to appear in the production.
According to the veteran actress, some portions of the film producers sought to put out did not project black people in a positive light. For this reason, she insisted aspects of the project be reviewed before she could play a role in it.
Fox played the role of Shante Smith, a successful woman who offered advice on keeping men in check, only to find her own relationship challenge. Other stars in the movie included Morris Chestnut and Gabrielle Union.
“I actually turned this movie down three times because I didn’t like the script originally…Shante was not nice,” she stated in a recent interview.

“We reshaped the movie, and I fought really hard for the wardrobe. I fought hard for the wardrobe, for the cars, everything…because they were just gonna do typical things how they thought Black people were and it was a lot of stereotypes, and I hated it”, she explained.
