Award-winning singer and businesswoman Rihanna shocked her fans by unexpectedly visit to a karaoke bar in New York City.

The 36-year-old singer surprised everyone by performing Needed Me and Sex With Me from her 2016 album Anti at Manhattan’s Girls Love Karaoke over the weekend.

A fan shared a video of the event on social media, in which RiRi jokes that her “battery” is “about to burn out” and tells the enthusiastic audience that she has five minutes left.

Nearly nine years after the release of Anti, Rihanna, who is also a mother of two, gave the evening a boost of celebrity power while jokingly taunting fans who had been anxiously anticipating new music.

Reactions to the karaoke surprise were all over social media after the performance by Rihanna’s Navy.

“Imagine going to [karaoke] night and you get a free Rihanna performance,” one fan wrote on X. Another added, “Awee she’s having fun.” Someone else gushed, “Her voice reminds me of Whitney Houston.”

On social media, several irate fans also criticized the Fenty Beauty creator for doing a karaoke bar performance rather than concentrating on new songs.

“So she wanna f— around with karaoke instead of getting her ass in the booth. wtf Rihanna 😒,” one person wrote on X. Another added, “Karaoke to your own 2016 hits with nothing new released?!!?” alongside a Simpsons meme that read “Pathetic.”

The singer Rihanna, who has two kids with her boyfriend A$AP Rocky, hinted earlier this year that her next song will be worth the wait.

For the first time in eight years, Rihanna performed live in March when she hit the stage for a pre-wedding event for the richest man in Asia.
