The Devil Wears Prada is getting a musical adaptation in London, and Vanessa Williams is playing the legendary character Miranda Priestly.

Williams, 60, announced on Instagram on Monday that she would be playing the legendary fictional Runway magazine editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly. She captioned her photo, saying, “Yeah, it’s me.”

In the video, she says, “Don’t just sit there. Either get tickets or something,” Williams captioned that photo, saying, “That’s all”. She also said, “Bringing Miranda Priestly to life in the West End is an absolute dream come true.”

A brand-new musical, “The Devil Wears Prada,” is based on the popular 2006 movie and best-selling 2003 book.

The original score for the West End production of The Devil Wears Prada was composed by Elton John, while the lyrics were written by Shaina Taub and the book was written by Kate Wetherhead.

The director and choreographer of the show, Jerry Mitchell, is in charge of an accomplished creative group.

The story revolves around Andy, a young journalist hired by fashion’s most formidable and terrifying icon, editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, at the prestigious Runway magazine. Andy sacrifices her personal life to appease Miranda’s irrational demands, only to become enamored with the glamorous world she once detested.

The set will be created by Tim Hatley, costumes by Gregg Barnes, lighting by Bruno Poet, sound by Gareth Owen, and casting done by Jill Green CDG.

The musical will be produced by Tony Award winners Kevin McCollum, Jamie Wilson, and Rocket Entertainment/David Furnish.

The Devil Wears Prada is presented by special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatrical. The production first had a developmental run in Chicago in 2022 before moving to London.

Beginning in October 2024, the play will be presented at London’s Dominion Theatre. Before its October opening in the West End. It will have a summer preview run at the Theatre Royal Plymouth.
