Actor Tyrese Gibson opened up about his pains when he appeared on The Breakfast Club talk show recently.

The Fast and Furious actor got emotional on the program as he reflected on losing several loved ones in the past 11 years.

“I’m doing the best I can with every 24 hours I get,” he told the host when asked how he handles grief. When tears started falling down his face, he continued, “I don’t need no tissue… Black men cry.”

He spoke about his new album, Beautiful Pain, and his new movie, 1992, saying there was no movie role or song collaboration that could ever replace his late mother.

His appearance on the show attracted mixed reactions on social media, with some people expressing sympathy.

“I know people make fun of him but vulnerability is a sign of strength. One thing you know is that he’s gonna tell you how he really feels and no one has to wonder,” a user wrote.

“He needs therapy, not to continue these podcasts or his social media. I wish him well…“Sending him nothing but healing energy. Grief has no time limit. I pray he heals,” other followers noted.

Public records indicate that Tyrese lost his mother, Priscilla Murray Gibson, in 2022 due to complications from COVID-19 and pneumonia.

His two sisters, Salendra and Shonta Gibson, also passed away in 2021 and 2023, respectively. His co-actor in 2 Fast 2 Furious, Paul Walker, lost his life in a car crash in 2013. All of these, coupled with the experience of two different divorces, perhaps explain his grief.

According to sources, Norma Mitchell and Tyrese Gibson were married from 2007 to 2009 but were embroiled in child custody battles after the marriage. The former couple have a 17-year-old daughter together.

Tyrese Gibson and his second wife, Samantha Gibson, separated in 2020 after four years of marriage. The award-winning star’s popularity included his appearance in a 1994 Coca-Cola commercial.

He signed to RCA Records in 1998 and released albums such as I Wanna Go There, and Black Rose in 2015. He has featured in movies like Four Brothers, Waist Deep, Transformers and others.
