Tyler, The Creator has set a new high-water mark with his latest album, Chromakopia, which now holds the title of the biggest debut for a hip-hop album on Spotify in 2024.

On the first full day after its release, the album amassed over 85 million streams on Spotify’s global charts, a feat confirmed by ChartData. This remarkable number places Chromakopia firmly within Spotify’s top 20 all-time debuts across all genres, ranking at No. 16.

The achievement places Tyler in elite company. Among the only rap artists with higher Spotify debut numbers are Travis Scott, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, and Drake, with albums like UTOPIA, DONDA, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, and Certified Loverboy, all sitting slightly above Chromakopia. This milestone also marks a career first for Tyler, who topped Spotify’s Top Artists chart globally following his album’s release, officially reaching No. 1 on the platform.

Tyler, The Creator celebrated the album’s release in style with a special listening event at the newly inaugurated Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. Fans flocked to the sold-out event, where tickets were priced at just $5. Attendees were treated to a fully immersive experience: Tyler appeared in a black mask and military attire, performing Chromakopia live amidst green-lit shipping containers, creating an electrifying atmosphere for fans to experience the album for the first time.

Following the live debut, Tyler shared insights into the personal journey that inspired Chromakopia. The album taps into his early years and reflects a deep introspection on family, growth, and the passage of time—elements that Tyler has seldom explored so explicitly in his music.
