Travis Scott has once again solidified his status as a powerhouse in the music industry. This week, his hit single Goosebumps achieved Diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), marking his second song to reach this milestone.
Released in 2016 as part of his album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, the Kendrick Lamar collaboration has surpassed 13 million in sales, well above its previous certification of 8 million in 2021.
Goosebumps joins Scott’s earlier hit Sicko Mode, which earned Diamond status in 2020. This achievement also marks Kendrick Lamar’s first Diamond certification, adding a significant accolade to his illustrious career.
The celebration doesn’t end with Goosebumps. Scott’s 2014 mixtape Days Before Rodeo, recently re-released to mark its 10th anniversary, is making notable waves. The mixtape, now available commercially for the first time, is projected to sell 217,000 equivalent units in its first week, according to HITS Daily Double. While it’s set to make a strong showing on the Billboard 200, it faces stiff competition from Sabrina Carpenter’s Short N’ Sweet, tracking over 300,000 equivalent sales.
Despite the competition, Scott’s mixtape has a chance to edge out Carpenter, given his track record of impressive sales figures. Days Before Rodeo features a deluxe edition with five bonus tracks available exclusively on Scott’s website, alongside vinyl copies, further fueling its strong sales performance.
If sales projections hold, Days Before Rodeo could become the third biggest first-week sales for a rap album this year, behind Eminem’s The Death of Slim Shady and Future and Metro Boomin’s We Don’t Trust You. The mixtape would outpace other major releases from artists such as Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign, J. Cole, 21 Savage, and Gunna.
