Pharrel Williams’ documentary titled Piece By Piece premiered early this week in New York, with many cast and crew members attending the show.

Pictures of some guests like Mimi Valdés, Caitrin Rogers, David Lawrence, Aaron Wickenden, Jason Zeldes, Oscar Vazquez, and others appeared online afterward.

The main production is expected to be seen in cinemas and streaming platforms on October 11.  It is said to feature characters like Daft Punk, Kendrick Lamar, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Missy Elliott, Chad Hugo, Busta Rhymes, Jay Z, and Snoop Dogg.

Some producers who worked on the movie also attended the event. Names like Mimi Valdés and Caitrin Rogers, David Lawrence, and Shani Saxon featured prominently.

Early in June this year, Pharrell Williams put out a trailer for the new movie, which is based on his career. The project follows the rise of the prolific artiste and “recreates monumental moments in his life.”

It captures Pharrell’s time in the group The Neptunes when he worked with the likes of Chad Hugo, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, and others.

Piece By Piece was directed by the acclaimed Morgan Neville, the mastermind behind award-winning documentaries such as 20 Feet From Stardom (2013) and Won’t You Be My Neighbor? (2018).

Pharrell Williams also served as an executive producer with the production company that co-produced the movie. The trailer of the animation opens with the musician narrating aspects of his career highlights, and how some people did not believe in him from the start.

Speaking about the project in an interview, Pharrell said he was “humbled” by the success of his 2013 singles, Happy (from the soundtrack for the movie Despicable Me 2), as well as the smash hit Get Lucky, which features Daft Punk.

Piece By Piece is described as “a documentary, a biopic, an animated movie, and a musical.” The Happy hitmaker described the director of the movie as one who “really knows how to paint with emotion and with vulnerability.”

Director Neville also said Piece By Piece was more than a display of Williams’ life story, but “a tale many can relate to.”
