Renowned music producer Timothy Zachery Mosley, known in the world of showbiz as Timbaland, has apologized for saying that American singer, Britney Spears, was “going crazy”.

Timbaland came under serious ‘fire’ recently for making derogatory comments about Spears and also for saying that talented singer Justin Timberlake should have put a “muzzle” on his ex-girlfriend.

“I apologize to the Britney fans and her,” Timbaland said somberly during one of his regular live TikTok chats while reading a comment asking him about his attitude towards women.

The 51-year-old added: “I’m sorry to all the Britney fans, even to her. I’m sorry because muzzle was — no, you have a voice. You speak what you want to speak. Who am I to tell you what not to speak? And I was wrong for saying that. I was looking at it from a different lens and what I am is a reconciled person. I’m not a person who takes sides.”

The response followed a question about the resurgence of interest in JT’s Tim-produced song Cry Me a River after the release of Spears’ best-selling autobiography, The Woman in Me. This was during Timbaland’s live interview with 9th Wonder on October 29 at the Kennedy Centre for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

The 2002 song from Timberlake’s first solo album, Justified, is widely seen as a reaction to the singer’s split with Spears—down to the casting of an unfaithful blonde woman who looks eerily like Britney in the video—and when asked about the song during the chat last month, Timbaland said, “She’s going crazy, right? I wanted to call and say, ‘JT, you gotta put a muzzle on that girl.”

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake dated from 1999 until 2002. In her biography, Britney discusses several elements of their relationship, including the abortion she had during their time together.

“It’s clear that Justin wasn’t pleased with the pregnancy. He said that we were far too young and unprepared to have a child. It remains one of the most excruciating experiences of my life to this day,” the memoir captured.
