Tia Mowry and her ex-husband Cory Hardict were together for nearly 20 years and married for 14 before finalizing their divorce in 2023 after announcing their separation a year prior.

Two years after her divorce from Cory Hardrict, the former couple seems to be doing well separately.

Cory has gone on to star in Tyler Perry’s Divorce in the Black movie while Tia has starred in her reality show dubbed Tia Mowry: My Next Act.

In the October 11 episode of Tia Mowry: My Next Act, Tia shared her decision to turn her engagement and wedding rings into sentimental gifts for her children, son Cree, 13, and daughter Cairo, 6.

She explained, “I haven’t worn it for almost two years now, and it just doesn’t feel right to sell it. But what I am wanting to do is change my wedding band into something for my kids. Pass it down, you know, to my kids, because they have been my biggest gift.”

Mowry decided to use the diamond to make a necklace for Cree and a bracelet for Cairo.

“I just think it’s so beautiful to transform something that was given out of love and to give it to your children. It just makes me feel like my marriage wasn’t a waste. I did the right thing,” she added.

However, the emotional moment was hard for Mowry as she reflected on the memories attached to the rings.

“It was very pretty,” she said through tears, noting that they had been “sitting” in a drawer since her divorce.

She, however, stated, “It’s hard for me to not think about Cory when I am deciding to repurpose my wedding ring because he is the one who gave me my wedding ring”.

Even though she did not ask for approval from her ex-husband, Tia feels he would be okay with it “because it’s going to their children.”

The actress also said it was something she needed to do for herself.

According to her, she couldn’t help but think of her former flame when she saw the ring being transformed at the jewelry shop.
