Jamie Foxx has disclosed the cause of the medical emergency that left him hospitalized for weeks in April 2023.

According to the actor, the health scare was due to “a brain bleed” that caused him to have a severe stroke.

The 56-year-old entertainer opened up about his health scare in his Netflix special, “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was… which premiered December 10, 2024.

Foxx said he was rushed to the hospital on April 11, 2023, after he experienced “a bad headache.”

The comic was said to be with a friend at the time of the incident and asked them for aspirin, thinking it would help the situation, but it did nothing.

With the help of his sister, however, he was rushed to a hospital in Atlanta, where doctors revealed he was suffering from a severe brain bleed that had caused a stroke.

Sourced said he was told that without immediate surgery, he would not survive.

Explaining why he kept a low profile afterward, he said his family kept him away as he was so “disoriented.”

He was taken to a rehabilitation center and gained consciousness on May 4, 2024, but had to use a wheelchair to move around.

Last month, Jamie Foxx embraced life with a renewed perspective following his 2023 medical scare.

On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, the actor took to Instagram to share the motto that now guides him: “No bad dayz.”

“This is my mantra… After surviving something that I thought I would never go through,” Foxx wrote, and credited his manager and close friend, James, for introducing the phrase.

Foxx’s health emergency occurred in April 2023 while filming the Netflix movie Back in Action in Atlanta. Reflecting on the experience, he wrote: “When you come through the darkness, the light looks brighter… and while I’m at it, I want to say thank you to everyone who sent up a prayer… I needed it.”
