O.J. Simpson according to Celebrity Net Worth is thought to have had a between $3 to $5 million net worth when he passed away.
According to an attorney, the 76-year-old acquitted double murder defendant did not die “penance” to the families of his murdered 35-year-old ex-wife Nicole Brown and her 25-year-old waiter friend Ron Goldman.
After being found not guilty in a criminal trial in 1995, O.J. Simpson was compelled to pay them millions of dollars in compensation after he was convicted responsible for their deaths in a civil action.
According to reports, O.J. Simpson collected US$42,000 ($71,204) annually from social security, a pension from the Screen Actors Guild, and an NFL pension from his running back days that ranged from US$125,000 ($211,916) to US$300,000 ($508,599) annually.
Following their divorce, Simpson and Brown agreed that Brown would get US$433,750 ($735,349) as a one-time lump amount as well as an extra US$10,000 ($16,953) in child support.
Although O.J. Simpson was found not guilty in a criminal court of killing Brown and Goldman in 1994, he was judged responsible for their deaths in a civil trial and sentenced to pay US$33.5 million ($56.79 million) in damages.
Following O.J. Simpson’s passing, Simpson was rumored to have owed the families of Brown and Goldman $170 million.
“He died without penance. We are unaware of who is in charge, what he possesses, or where it is. We shall continue where we are and not stop”, attorney David Cook told the Daily Mail.
Up until Simpson’s death, the Goldman family had been pursuing compensation money for Brown and Goldman’s killings; they had reportedly only received US$123,000 ($208,508).
The debt including interest has now increased over US$100 million according to debt collection lawyer David Cook, who works for Goldman’s father.
O.J. Simpson’s children, Sydney and Justin, refuted claims that in 2017 he had transferred money to them in order to evade paying his civil reparation due.
It appears Sydney, Jason, Justin, and Arnelle Simpson, O.J.’s four surviving children, will inherit their dad’s wealth.
