Dolly Parton is a good composer and passionate about all her works, but she has named some of the top songs she is proud to have written.
In a recent interview, the country music legend named three songs, including Coat of Many Colours, Jolene, and I Will Always Love You
“Well, I’m proud of all of them…I think the one that’s most personal to me is ‘Coat of Many Colors,’ because it talks about my mom, and my parents and kind of gives you an insight. It also covers bullying, acceptance and all that.
“…Of course, the one that’s most recorded is ‘Jolene.’ That seems to be the favorite—do you know that song has been recorded, somebody told me, 450 times in the last 52 years? I’m so proud of it. And ‘I Will Always Love You’ is one is the great love songs, so I’m very proud of that too,” the award-winning artiste told The Guardian.
Dolly Parton has always shared her perspective on a range of music topics, including the recent “snub” of Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter album at the Country Music Association Awards.
At the time, she noted that Beyonce may not have been ignored by the awards committee because there were equally other good albums on the nominees list.
In May this year, a niece of the Coat of Many Colours singer, disclosed that Dolly Parton had traced her ancestry to the Welsh valleys and will be visiting the country. The award-winning singer was born in Tennessee and had also previously told her fans about her link to Wales.
The Country Music Icon, later said she would visit Wales, perhaps for the first time. Reports indicated that the travel will include her recording a special TV show, which will air next year.
Though other details of the trip were not made public, fans have kept their fingers crossed to see what comes up next.
Dolly Parton is hailed for her exceptional talent and soulful music. It will be recalled that she was one of the personalities who commended Beyonce following the release of the song Texas Hold ‘Em early in February.
Dolly Parton expressed excitement about Beyonce’s 2024 album, saying she was a huge fan of the irreplaceable singer, who also decided to introduce a rendition of Dolly Parton’s recording on the new album.
“I’m a big fan of Beyonce and very excited that she’s done a country album… Can’t wait to hear the full album!” Dolly Parton wrote on her social media in February.
