Charming songstress Tems, has reached over two billion streams on Spotify, making her the most streamed female African artiste on the platform, according to information put out by the creative agency WeTalkSound.

Current data on the platform also shows the Me & You singer reaches 15.4 listeners monthly. Tems has several singles to her credit and will release Not an Angle sometime in December 2023.

The single, Me & U, reached No. 34 on the UK singles chart in October 2023 and also featured on former US President Obama‘s 2023 playlist.

Born Temilade Openiyi, the exciting singer, continues to make waves in her career, pushing her brand and Afrobeats globally.

The female MVP Award holder rose to fame after she was featured on Wizkid’s 2020 single, Essence, which reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart following the release of the remix version with Justin Bieber.

Reaching 2 billion streams will be a personal victory for Tems who says she does not do music to impress. In October 2023, she made an interesting disclosure about why she started recording music, saying she is original and remains “true” to herself.

She explained that she was not making music to win awards and was not competing with any artiste.

She considers music an “outlet” to express her thoughts, adding that her songs are for people who can relate to the melodies.

“I am competitive within myself, but I am not competing with other artistes; nobody can compete with me…Whether anyone listens to it [my music] or not, I have to release it; whether it does well or doesn’t do well, it’s none of my business,” she stated.
