In the black entertainment industry, the BET Awards night has always been one of the most anticipated events, and this year is no exception.
This year’s BET Awards host is none other than Oscar-nominated actor, producer, and writer, Taraji P. Henson.
The awards show will take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and air live on BET on June 30 at 8 p.m. ET.
In reacting to the gig, Henson noted: “Being back for a third year as the host of the “BET Awards” makes me very happy. Additionally, I’m excited to honor my colleagues and the contribution of our culture to entertainment.”
Having hosted the award presentation two times prior in 2021 and 2022, Taraji P. Henson will be hosting it for the third time this year.
Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET, said, “Taraji is a phenom, known for her vibrant personality and charisma, and we are excited to welcome her back to host our culture’s biggest night, ‘BET Awards,’ the ultimate celebration of Black creativity.”
She continued, “We are equally thrilled to have so many incredibly talented people taking the stage to deliver an unforgettable performance on our culture’s biggest stage.”
Numerous artistes, such as GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, and Victoria Monét, will be performing.
The award nominations are out, with Usher going to receive the prestigious BET Lifetime Achievement Award, and he has also been nominated for four BET Awards.
Drake leads with seven nominations, followed by Nicki Minaj, Nigeria’s superstar Ayra Starr with three, and South Africa’s Tyla leading the African side in terms of nominations.
The Black Entertainment Television network founded the BET Awards in 2001 to honor black performers and other underrepresented groups in the entertainment, sports, cinema, and charity industries.
