Clifford Joseph Harris, aka T.I., now wants to “live his life,” just as he encouraged listeners in his hit single. The top talent says he would no longer do live performances to entertain fans.
The rapper declared his intention ahead of the Jingle Bell concert scheduled to take place in Atlanta, indicating that the show would be the last time fans were going to see him on stage.
The Topless rapper is expected to headline the show with support from other artistes. After that appearance, however, he would not be playing any more gigs, as stated.
“I appreciate y’all for offering me my last working gig because I do not need the money anymore and I will not be performing…I don’t want to do it anymore…I don’t want people to pay me to hop around and sweat for their entertainment anymore,” the 44-year-old said in an interview.
Some followers say T.I.’s decision could have been informed by the millions of dollars he and his wife, Tiny, made from their copyright infringement battle with MGA Entertainment.
In September this year, the rapper and his wife reportedly scored a massive legal victory after they were awarded $71 million in damages from a lawsuit against MGA Entertainment, the company behind the “LOL Surprise! OMG dolls.”
According to reports, the couple sued the company, claiming that the dolls infringed upon “the likeness and intellectual property of their teen pop group, OMG Girlz.”
The legal battle, which took place in California, centered around seven dolls in the OMG line that were said to resemble members of the group, including Tiny’s daughter, Star, who testified during the trial.
It was the couple’s third attempt to sue MGA for what they believed was a blatant copying of the OMG Girlz’s “unique look and style.” The court’s decision was described as a significant win for T.I. and Tiny, who had long fought to protect the creative work of their family and group members.
That same month, T.I. expressed his excitement about getting another grandchild when he mentioned that his son, King Harris, was expecting a baby boy.
“I got two granddaughters, I got a grandson on the way,” he said, referring to his daughter Zonnique’s child and his son Doman’s child. “I got a grandson on the way; King’s about to have a son,” he added.
When his daughter Zonnique welcomed a baby girl in 2022, the All She Wrote rapper shared a picture of himself holding his new granddaughter, portraying himself as a family man.
