Acclaimed singer-songwriter SZA, has announced a complete restart on the deluxe version of her SOS album, Lana.

Her decision has come in the wake of fans leaking songs originally intended for the project.

The situation came to light when the Grammy winner took to Twitter on Monday to express her thoughts. She addressed the issue head-on in a series of tweets, which have since been deleted. She informed her fans that they could retain the three songs they had already accessed.

SZA’s tweets conveyed a clear message. She intended to start from scratch on Lana, effectively discarding the leaked songs. She also requested her fans not to inquire further about the matter, indicating her desire to move forward without dwelling on the past.

In a follow-up tweet, SZA proposed what she considered a fair deal. She offered to compile the leaked songs that fans had already obtained, allowing them to keep those. While unexpected, this gesture showed her commitment to her fans and music.

This incident highlights artists’ challenges in the digital age, where music leaks can disrupt carefully laid plans. However, SZA’s response demonstrates her resilience and adaptability. By choosing to start anew, she turns a setback into an opportunity for fresh creativity.

SZA’s SOS album

The SOS album was her second studio album, released in 2022. It opened with the biggest streaming week ever for an R&B album, spent 10 weeks atop the Billboard 2001, and ended 2023 as the country’s third-biggest album with 3.172 million units sold. Lana will be the deluxe to this great project.

Given the success of SOS, Lana is likely to be as successful and leaks would be a huge blow to its success. This is not the first time she has faced this issue. In January, she threatened legal action against individuals who leaked her music.

SZA’s track given to Rihanna

Meanwhile, SZA, in an interview, recalled how her track Consideration originally recorded for her 2017 album Ctrl, was given to Rihanna.

According to SZA, she had not only recorded Consideration but had gone the extra mile by filming a music video for the track, fully gearing up for its release.

However, just days before the big reveal, Rihanna expressed interest in the song for her own album, Anti. Negotiations unfolded behind the scenes, leaving SZA in the dark about the fate of her cherished creation.
