Pop star SZA has admitted opting for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) to enhance her appearance, but she is not very happy with the decision.
She told Vogue Magazine that she regrets going through the procedure as she doesn’t think it was “necessary.” SZA believes she should have prioritized her mental health instead.
“I’m so mad I did that…I gained all this weight from being immobile while recovering and trying to preserve the fat. It was just so stupid.”
“…It just wasn’t super necessary; I have other [things] that I need to work on about myself…I need to get my mental health together…Not to say you can’t do those things simultaneously; just, for me, I realize wherever you go, there you’ll be,” she stated.
Despite the reservation, she is still pleased with her total appearance, adding: “…It’s something that I wanted. I’m enjoying it. I love shaking it.”
The Kill Bill singer also touched on her struggle with fame and how she considered ending her music career due to anxiety.
“Every day I grapple with, ‘Am I done with music?’ Maybe I’m just not meant to be famous – I’m crashing and burning and behaving erratically.
“It’s not for me because I have so much anxiety. But why would God put me in this position if I wasn’t supposed to be doing this? So I just keep trying to rise to the occasion,” she said.
In July this year, she reflected on the lyrics of her hit single Kill Bill, which she thought was a little “over the top” though she sought to introduce some humor in her composition.
A section of the heartbreak song says: “…Hate to see you happy if I’m not the one driving…I just want you; if I can’t have you, no one should. I might kill my ex…Not the best idea…His girlfriend is next.”
SZA said the lyrics must not be taken literally but admitted that the part about “murdering” her ex-boyfriend was harsh.
“Oh my God, after I said that, I was like, that was so crazy and harsh…I was just randomly slightly enraged,” she said in an interview.
Kill Bill, released in 2022, became SZA’s first-ever solo No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 around the period.
