The New Orleans Pelicans has named former WNBA player and Naismith Hall of Famer Swin Cash as the Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations, making her one of the highest-ranking front-office positions held by a woman in NBA history.

When Cash joined the Basketball team in June 2019, he was the vice president of basketball operations and team development for New Orleans.

After an outstanding academic career, Cash enrolled at the University of Connecticut. The forward went on to become a prominent player for the Huskies, helping them to two national titles and an undefeated season.

Before winning her third and final championship with the Seattle Storm, she won two WNBA titles after being selected by the Detroit Shock with the second overall pick in the 2002 WNBA Draft.

During her 15 seasons in the WNBA, Cash was a four-time All-Star and two-time MVP of the WNBA All-Star Game. She also captained the USA Basketball Women’s National Team to gold medals in the 2004 and 2012 Olympic Games.

Cash left the WNBA in 2016 to take a front-office position as the team’s director of franchise development for the New York Liberty in 2017. Additionally, she has provided analysis on a variety of ongoings throughout the league for NBA TV while working as an analyst.

Cash was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022 and chosen to be a part of the WNBA’s 20th and 25th anniversary teams.
