Rapper Soulja Boy is facing a civil trial after being accused of rape and physical abuse by a former employee. The anonymous woman, who says she worked as his assistant, is seeking nearly $75 million in damages.

The lawsuit, filed in 2021, claims the abuse happened over several years starting in 2018. The woman says Soulja Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, raped her, beat her, locked her in rooms, and threatened her life multiple times.

She is now asking the court to award her $73.6 million for the emotional and physical harm she says she suffered.

During the trial, the woman’s legal team told jurors that the abuse left her with serious trauma. They argued that she deserved full compensation and pointed to photos, injuries, and messages between her and the rapper as evidence.

Some of the messages shown in court included threats and insults. In one, the rapper allegedly wished she would die slowly. In another, he appeared to say he should have killed her. Other messages also showed signs of verbal abuse.

Her lawyer also criticized Soulja Boy’s appearance in court, calling it an act meant to make him look harmless. The lawyer said the rapper’s formal clothing and glasses were not a true reflection of the person who caused the woman harm.

This is not the first time Soulja Boy has faced such accusations. In 2023, a jury ordered him to pay another woman over $470,000 for civil assault and kidnapping. That case involved similar claims of violence and control.

In the current case, the woman says she was once punched so hard she lost consciousness. She claims she later woke up in a locked room with no bed, food, or water.

On another occasion, she says she tried to leave, but the rapper locked her in a room for three days with no hot water until she agreed to stay.

Soulja Boy’s lawyer has denied all the claims. He says the woman’s story is not true and that the amount of money she is asking for is unreasonable.
