Songbird Gyakie, adored in her home country, Ghana, and abroad, is preparing to offload her first record for 2024.
The new single titled December is scheduled to drop this Friday, March 5, 2024, and fans cannot wait to feel the sound.
The Forever hitmaker posted snippets of the new soulful rhythm on her socials early this week, with some fans wondering why the talented songstress would be singing about December when “we are still in April.”
December is somewhat of a heartbreak song as part of the composition says “…for all the times I was in pain you’ll pay for it!” The record is coming months after Gyakie released the well-acclaimed record titled Rent Free in October 2023.
She had previously treated fans to back-to-back renditions on the My Diary Extended Play (EP) and also produced the remix of the hit single Something ft Nigerian singer Omah Lay.
The Afrobeats record Rent Free has been embraced by many music enthusiasts and has always livened up social gathering gatherings, it was performed.
Fans would analyse the new record in December when it finally dropped, just as they did with Rent Free, in which Gyakie blended English and the local Twi (Ghanaian dialect), singing about someone who had occupied her thoughts and imaginations, without paying rent.
Gyakie demonstrates her vocal prowess on every record she produces, and the new single December would perhaps be no exception.
Her compositions follow the success of the sublime rendition Scar released early in April 2023, which had an overwhelming number of streams across music platforms. The appealing rendition had the audience jump onto the dancefloor when it arrived.
Gyakie’s debut Extended Play (EP) had songs like For My Baby, Far Away, and Flames ft Davido. The 23-year-old has been phenomenal since the award-winning Forever brought her to the limelight in 2020.
In 2021, Forever was adjudged Best Afrobeats/Afropop Song of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Her SEED EP also won Best Album/EP of the Year at the same event in 2022.
She won Best International Collaboration for the remix of Forever ft Nigerian talent, Omah Lay, and was again named the Best West African Artiste of the Year at the Headies Awards in 2022.
