Some of Hip-hop’s biggest stars have always been foodies, as evidenced by the abundance of significant and culturally relevant references to food, drinks, and restaurants that can be found throughout the genre.

Rappers frequently use food metaphors in their lyrics, so it should come as no surprise that many of them also have the skill of being able to prepare those metaphors.

It makes sense that many rappers, including Juicy J, Trick Daddy, and RiFF RAF, have turned into elite food pornographers as hip-hop becomes more and more obsessed with food.

Therefore, if you’re looking for some culinary inspiration this holiday season, follow your favorite hip-hop artistes on Instagram.

They often feature some of the best food, which is sure to satisfy your appetite. We, therefore, examine six of hip-hop’s biggest foodies who need to be on our radar leading up to the festive season.

Snoop Dogg

Although Snoop Dogg may not immediately come to mind when you think of hip-hop foodies, the rap legend does have some experience because of his partnership with Martha Stewart. He was so confident in his abilities that he released his own cookbook, From Crook to Cook: Platinum Recipes from Tha Boss Dogg’s Kitchen, fusing his childhood favorites from the hood with recently acquired skills. He is currently working with Master P on his own Snoop cereal.

Bun B

With his love for food and Trill Burgers, Bun B introduced his love of burgers to his hometown of Houston. After winning Good Morning America’s Best Burger Competition in 2022, the restaurant’s signature dish was named the best burger in the city as well as in the nation.

Flavor Flav

Naturally, the Public Enemy hypeman with a name like Flavor Flav has experience in the kitchen, having learned the fundamentals while working in his parents’ Freeport, Long Island diner. He is especially proud of his fried chicken, and he once suggested to famous chef Wolfgang Puck that they should engage in a “chicken standoff” to determine who is the greatest. In 2011, he also launched a brief chicken restaurant in Iowa.

2 Chainz

2 Chainz’s passion for fine dining has been extensively chronicled on social media – in his YouTube series Most Expensivest Sh*t, and in his 2013 cookbook Meal Time. He is also the owner of Atlanta’s Escobar Restaurant, which just got a permanent location in Las Vegas.

Action Bronson

The Queens rapper and former chef Bronson has a well-established love of food; since 2016, he has starred in his own culinary documentary series, F*ck, That’s Delicious. He has also published multiple lists of his best restaurants, which covered those domestically in his hometown of New York City and internationally.

Saweetie

Saweetie’s culinary preferences have been hotly contested; while some find her seemingly odd meal combinations adventurous, others just don’t get it. The Bay Area native, in true Mukbang fashion, doesn’t let it stop her from sharing her distinct tastes on YouTube or Instagram.
