English R&B singer Mark Morrison, known for the 1996 song Return of the Mack, has been arrested. The 52-year-old was reportedly arrested on Saturday, March 22, in Palm Beach.
Reports indicate that he entered a wine bar in the evening “yelling and cursing” about an event at the restaurant and allegedly pushed an individual during an altercation at the venue.

According to a witness, described as the nightlife manager of the restaurant, Morrison stood “very close” and “began yelling” about an event being planned, and subsequently pushed an individual “twice with an open palm.”
According to the account, personnel at the venue tried to prevent the altercation as Morrison was asked to step outside. However, he was arrested because he allegedly “intentionally” touched or struck the individual “against his will.”

Police records indicate he was booked on Saturday night and released in the early hours of Sunday, March 23, on a $1,000 bond. He is expected to return to court on April 15.
In January, the song Return of the Mack was reported to have reached 500 million streams on Spotify. Morrison is known for other 1990s songs like Crazy, Let’s Get Down.

In 1997, he was convicted for attempting to bring a firearm on board an airliner, for which he served three months in jail, just as his hit song Return of the Mack began to rise in the US Billboard Charts.
Mark has received numerous nominations, including four Brit Award nominations, a Mercury Prize nomination, an MTV Europe Music nomination, and five MOBO Award nominations.

In July 2020, McDonald’s featured Return of the Mack in a UK television commercial as part of a post-COVID-19 lockdown promotional campaign to mark the resumption of services and the gradual reopening of restaurants.
In 2021, Morrison was featured alongside Chris Brown on G-Eazy’s single Provide, as the song samples Return of the Mack.
