For celebrities that openly express their political opinions, Pharrell Williams has a message: shut the hell up!
Famous for smash songs like Happy, Pharrell Williams is a Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated producer and music artist.
Williams recently disclosed to The Hollywood Reporter during an interview, and the topic of politics came up, which prompted him to criticize other artists.
According to Pharrell, he becomes irritated when celebrities whose viewpoints he disapproves of attempt to influence voters to support a particular politician.
In addition, he clarified that he is not political and that other artists ought to take a cue from him, saying, “I’m one of those people [who says], ‘What the heck? Shut up. Nobody asked you.'”
Furthermore, Pharrell expressed his dislike for celebrities who become puffed up and parade around with signs endorsing their political beliefs.
Finally, Pharrell expressed his concern for the nation and “my people,” stated that he believes more work remains to be done, and stated that he is prepared to act.
Pharrell did not, however, name the celebrities he was mentioning. However, some well-known figures in the entertainment sector have just openly and publicly endorsed Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for president.
Notably, many celebrities, both past and present, have used their platforms to express their political opinions regarding issues that are widely known as well as to draw attention to crimes that could otherwise go unreported.
When he refused to be enlisted and spoke out against the Vietnam War, Muhammad Ali missed the best years of his career.
Because of his position, he was even found guilty of a felony. Eventually, his conviction was reversed, but not without controversy.
It’s interesting to note that Pharrell backed Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2016.
He even showed up at one of her demonstrations. What’s changed with you, Pharrell? one would think after his recent thoughts.
