Serena Williams’ recent social media post has sparked divorce rumors among some of her fans. Early this week, the tennis legend posted on X (formally Twitter) suggesting that someone was “stealing” her “joy.”
The post prompted some fans to begin speculating whether she was on the verge of ditching her husband, Alexis Ohanian.
“I don’t know who needs to hear this (maybe no one), but if someone, even someone close to you, is robbing you of your joy it’s ok to walk away,” William’s post read.
Many X users reacted with mixed opinions, saying it was appropriate to divorce but others held divergent views.
“If that someone close to you is your spouse, you try to work it out rather than walk away because there’s no such thing as a perfect marriage,” one user replied.
Another person responded: “If your own spouse is robbing you of your joy then what is there to work out? That’s not an imperfect marriage; that’s hell….” You are not in that situation, are you? We cannot deal with bad news at the moment,” another added.
Serena Williams did not confirm that the person “robbing” her “joy” was her husband, Ohanian. However, some observers believe she could still walk out of the marriage if things were not right.
“No one is entitled to make you miserable when they have access to you by your choice. Simply remove that access. Life is too short,” a follower said.
In July this year, there were similar rumors when followers said Serena was not posting her spouse on social media. Days later, she somewhat quelled the gossip by uploading a picture of herself, her husband, Ohanian, and their oldest daughter, Alexis Olympia.
The tennis champion, in August, threw a subtle jab at critics who suggested she had been having cosmetic surgery over the years to enhance her physical appearance. She posted a new picture of herself, which seemingly was intended to put her beauty “accusations” to rest.
