Actor and theatre director LaTanya Richardson Jackson has described how it feels to direct her husband, Samuel L. Jackson, on set.
In 2022, she directed her husband in the movie The Piano Lesson, but that was a hard nut to crack, she explained while appearing on the talk show Sherri recently.

Asked if her husband took her instructions well, she replied: “No, because he’s so old, he thinks he knows everything. He’s been there, done that, and who are you”.
Despite her partner proving ‘stubborn’ sometimes, LaTanya said she always stamped her authority during the production, stressing that: “I told him ‘in this room, it’s about what I say. It’s not gonna be about you, it’s gonna be about me,” she noted.

That authority, she added, was necessary because she needed other cast members on set to listen and take her instructions seriously as well.
Samuel L. Jackson has been featured in hundreds of movies and is recognised as one the most talented actors in Hollywood.

Recently, he reflected on his role in the 1999 production Deep Blue Sea, indicating that he had to be in water for a month and “it was kind of wild.”
In September 2024, he shared the secret about surviving a 44-year marriage with LaTanya, citing tolerance for one another.

“A lot of tolerance, because everybody’s got flaws, and not giving up when it would be easy to give up. I’ve done s— in my marriage that’s crazy, you know?
“She has, too, in her head, or whatever in reality, but you got to [ask], ‘Is that a breakup offense? Or is it just that we need to spend a little time together and get some understanding about it?” Mr Jackson stated in an interview with AARP magazine.

“…There are certain things that you learn to ignore about people — that she’s learned to ignore about me. And one of the things she had to accept is that I’m going to go to work. I’m going to go to work all the time until, you know, it’s time,” he added.

In 2000, Samuel L. Jackson earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was named the most influential actor of all time in a 2018 study. The actor, who once fought drug addiction in the early days of his career, credits his wife for saving him.
