Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, is among some prominent figures who have lost their homes in the raging fire in Los Angeles County.
The businesswoman told followers on Instagram on January 9 that her oceanfront Malibu bungalow was razed down by the blaze.
She described the residence as her “favorite place” and “sanctuary,” where she celebrated her birthday on January 4.
Showing pictures of two dolphins swimming in the ocean, she wrote: “This is what I was looking at on my birthday this past weekend from my tiny little bungalow on the water in Malibu…
“Now it is gone! God bless all the brave men and women in our fire department who risked their lives in dangerous conditions,” the 71-year-old wrote.
“We thank you for your dedication and bravery and for saving so many lives. This could have been so much worse without the dedication of the disaster workers and first responders,” she added.
Tina Knowles extended sympathy and support to people who had lost family members or their homes and belongings to the fire.
“I can only imagine how it feels to lose properties and everything you own! My heart and deep prayers go out to all of you. I cannot imagine the pain and suffering and fear that you are enduring.”
“I am praying diligently for our beautiful City of Los Angeles !! We are resilient, though, and we will recover! ‘This too shall pass,” she added.
Celebrities including Jhené Aiko and Paris Hilton are also reported to have lost their homes in the fire.
Officials say the wildfire had resulted in at least 10 confirmed deaths, adding that the extent of the toll will not be clear until it is safe for investigators to enter affected neighborhoods.
Many residents have been urged to evacuate since the fires began. Some 10,000 structures have reportedly been destroyed. Reports indicate curfews have been imposed with police actively patrolling the area to prevent looting.
