Hip-hop legends and some divas have featured prominently on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2024 nominee list, which appears to confirm that this year is bringing us some ‘girl power’ given that women dominated the Grammy Awards with their big wins.

It makes sense that female icons, many of whom are first-timers on the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 2024 nominee list, along with legendary funk and soul musicians, hip-hop pioneers, and classic rock superstars, lead this year’s ballot of 2024 nominees.

The ceremony will be streamed live on Disney+ this autumn and will return to Cleveland in the fall. The inductees will be revealed in late April. For an artiste or band to be nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, their first commercial recording must have been released at least 25 years before the nomination year.

On Saturday, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame revealed the nominees for its class of 2024. First-time nominees for “rock’s highest honor” make up two-thirds of the artistes on the list, and many of them are female. The first-ever inductee shortlist for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame included Mariah Carey, Cher, Sinéad O’Connor, and Sade, while Mary J. Blige returned.

Dave Matthews Band, Eric B. & Rakim, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Jane’s Addiction, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Tribe Called Quest are among the other nominees for 2024.

Voting ballots for the nominees will be distributed to over 1,000 musicians, historians, and music industry professionals worldwide.

Considerations also include an artiste’s musical impact and influence on other artistes, the breadth and depth of their body of work and career, as well as their innovation and superiority in style and technique.

Dates and information will be announced for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2024 Induction Ceremony, which is scheduled to occur in Cleveland this autumn.
