According to a report from the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office made available to People on Tuesday, October 1, Rich Homie Quan’s cause of death has been determined to be an accidental drug overdose.
According to the report that was received, Quan’s system had a toxic combination of substances at the time of his death, including THC, codeine, promethazine, fentanyl, and alprazolam.
It was also determined that Dequantes Devontay Lamar’s death was an accident because he did not exhibit any signs of trauma.
Rich Homie Quan passed away at 33 years old on September 5, 2024.
An autopsy was conducted the following day, and on September 17, a funeral service was held in Atlanta for Quan’s official burial.
According to a 911 call that was obtained by TMZ and sourced by Afrobeatzplus, Rich Homie Quan’s girlfriend found him lifeless on the couch and put a blanket on him the morning of September 5.
However, when she came back from dropping her kids off at school, she saw that he had not moved and was not even experiencing a heartbeat.
She turned him over and noticed that his mouth was foaming, so she called 911. Not long after, Quan was declared deceased.
Though the hip-hop community is still in grief, the family of the “Type of Way” rapper has however released a posthumous song called “Song Cry,” which was accompanied by an agonizing visual released on September 30.
During the celebration of life event, Quan’s brothers, parents, and peers gave heartfelt tributes to their late artist.
Quan’s brother Andre Munford said: “I appreciate him for taking me from 285 Old National to the Eastside to endless flights. From endless oatmeal and cereal to continental breakfast and continental breakfast and personal chefs,”
He went on to say, “We went from apartments, sometimes with no hot water… We didn’t stop. I love you, man.”
Throughout his career, Rich Homie Quan had seven songs chart on the Billboard Hot 100 including the top 20 hits Lifestyle (No. 16) with Young Thug and Rich Gang and YG’s My Hitta (No. 19) featuring Jeezy.
