Prince of Afrobeats Rema is yet to come up with a major hit in 2024 after his Ravage Extended Play (EP) arrived last year. Fans await the new sounds he will come up with.
In the meantime, the Calm Down hitmaker has been impressed with his works since 2019 and pleased with the many artistes who try to “copy his style.”
Sounding comfortable with his achievements in the industry over the years, he also speaks about having “a lot of plans” and changing how Afrobeats is perceived.
“I have so many plans for evolving the sound; I’ve always been that guy who just wants to change the game…change how the game is perceived, from sound to show branding.
“Even though some artistes will not give me that glory, I know how many people have copied my moves and I am flattered by it…it shows I’m bringing something to the game,” he stated in a Rolling Stone interview which appeared online this week.

The 24-year-old, in the short clip, did not provide names of musicians he felt were imitating his style. It is also unclear when the interview was recorded.
Ravage EP by Rema came in October 2023, with songs like DND, Red Potion, Smooth Criminal, Don’t Leave, and Trouble Maker, which all had some positive reviews.
Last month, Rema was disappointed with technical hitches during his performance at the Dreamville Festival in North Carolina, United States.
The Calm Down hitmaker Rema had his turn at the festival but was held up with some “major sound issue” when he grabbed his microphone to perform.
He was visibly disturbed when his mic kept going off while he was performing the fan’s favorite Calm Down on the second day of the festival.
Prior to this, he had won the award for Best Collaboration with Calm Down ft Selena Gomez at the 2024 iHeart Radio Awards in the United States.
Later in August this year, he will be among a host of headliners for the two-day 2024 Afro Nation festival in Detroit, USA. The festival offers participants from diverse backgrounds an opportunity to celebrate and connect with the city’s vibrant music and artistic communities.
