There has been an update in the Pop Smoke murder case as Corey Walker, one of the alleged killers, has been given a new trial date after failing to reach a plea deal with prosecutors.

Over four years since the “Dior” rapper was brutally murdered, justice remains elusive as Walker prepares to face trial.

Walker, the only defendant to be tried as an adult, could not finalize a plea agreement with the prosecution, his attorney Deion Benjamin confirmed.

Benjamin remains hopeful that an agreement might still be reached, but with unresolved issues, the trial seems inevitable.

Jury selection for Walker’s trial is now set for August 6, a delay from the initial start date scheduled for this week. The high-profile case continues to captivate public attention, with Walker being the last suspect awaiting a verdict.

The case took a significant turn when a 15-year-old confessed to pulling the trigger during the deadly home invasion in Hollywood Hills in February 2020. Tried in juvenile court due to his age, the teenager admitted to home invasion robbery and intentionally discharging a firearm, resulting in Pop Smoke’s tragic death. He is expected to remain in a state juvenile facility until the age of 25.

L.A. County Superior Court Judge J. Christopher Smith condemned the senseless violence, emphasizing that Pop Smoke’s life was lost for no justifiable reason. Addressing the 15-year-old and his 19-year-old co-defendant, Smith underscored the gravity of taking a life and violating property rights.

Amelia Rose, who was present during the fatal night, recounted the chilling events in a heartfelt interview on WE tv’s Hip Hop Homicides. Rose shared the horrifying moment when intruders stormed the rented mansion, turning a regular night into a nightmare. She recalled Pop Smoke going upstairs to use the bathroom, his last words a promise to return.

Moments later, Rose was confronted by masked intruders who broke into the property. The terrifying encounter culminated in Pop Smoke being dragged out of the bathroom, followed by

the sound of the fatal gunshot. Rose’s vivid recollection paints a haunting picture of the night that ended the life of the promising Brooklyn rapper.
