Orlando Bloom has shared his thoughts on Keira Knightley’s recent discussion about the impact of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘ movies on her career when she said the franchise was making and breaking her at the same time.
While promoting her Netflix series Black Doves, for which she received a Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series Drama nomination, the 39-year-old actress, who wowed audiences at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month, discussed her conflicting emotions regarding the blockbusters.

Keira Knightley described her complex relationship with the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘ films, stating, “I was seen as s*** because of them, and yet because they did so well, I was allowed to do the films that I ended up getting Oscar nominations for.” She acknowledged them as “the most successful films I’ll ever be a part of,” while also recognizing that “they were the reason that I was taken down publicly.” Knightley concluded that the films occupy “a very confused place in my head.”

“I certainly understand Keira’s point of view, and she is a very talented individual,” the actor stated. “I have many positive reflections on the experience.”
Despite the success of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘, ‘The Curse of the Black Pearl‘ and the fame they brought to Keira Knightley, it also came at a price.
According to Box Office Mojo, the action-adventure film starring Johnny Depp, Knightley, Orlando Bloom, and Jeffrey Rush earned over $654 million worldwide.

Audiences disagreed with the critics, as evidenced by the film’s strong box office performance.
Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom reprised their roles in two more “Pirates of the Caribbean” films: “Dead Man’s Chest” (2006) and “At World’s End” (2007).
While critics weren’t impressed, audiences flocked to see them. “Dead Man’s Chest” sailed past the $1 billion mark, and “At World’s End” wasn’t far behind, earning over $961 million.

The film’s success brought intense scrutiny of Knightley’s appearance, particularly her weight. Media speculation included accusations of an eating disorder. Knightley later revealed in 2018 that she had sought treatment for post-traumatic stress.
Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of the movie, is developing two more “Pirates of the Caribbean” films.
Orlando Bloom, who previously starred in the franchise, has expressed openness to reprising his role. He told EW, “Listen, it was a wild and fun experience, so, you know, never say never.”

He added, “I have a lot of respect for that experience, and Jerry, and the whole thing. But who knows? I mean, it’s sort of one of those things I really haven’t thought about, really.”
Bloom also acknowledged the lasting popularity of the “Pirates” films, saying, “I’m happy that I got to be a part of something that feels like it’s standing the test of time, which is cool.”
