During a recent interview with Billboard, DJ Mustard highlighted many aspects of the rhythm used in the song “Not Like Us.”

DJ Mustard went on to say that the catchy-produced diss song was inspired by Dr. Dre and Lil Jon. In addition, Mustard mentioned that he took only thirty minutes to create the beat.

Regarding his inspiration, Mustard revealed that he pondered what a song would sound like if Dr. Dre and Lil Jon collaborated to write it.

“When I was making it, in the back of my head was, ‘What would Dr. Dre do if Lil Jon was in the studio and they were collaborating on the beat? That was my thought process. It took me approximately 30 minutes to make that beat,” said Mustard.

Not Like Us was released on May 4 and includes extra production from Sean Momberger and Sounwave.

The song, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, is the fifth and final Diss track by Lamar.

Mustard sang at Kendrick Lamar’s The Pop Out—KKen & Friends performance.

Not Like Us was not only played live for the first time but it was also performed five times. The concert took place on June 19 inside the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, and was presented by pgLang and Free Lunch.
