It’s new music Friday, and Niki Minaj’s latest Pink Friday 2 album is one of the sounds making the rounds.
The Hip-Hop album, which arrived at midnight, has recorded over 2 million playbacks on Audiomack alone.
Sometime this year, the rap queen announced she was working on a new project, a follow-up to her Pink Friday (Complete Edition), released in 2010.
Pink Friday 2 is said to have suffered some delay but has finally been unveiled on the singer’s 41st birthday.
The album features A-listers in the rap game like J. Cole, Drake, Lil Wayne, and others.
Producers named on the project include ARL Jacob, Murda Beatz, Boi-1da, Slade Da Monsta, Dr. Luke, BNYX, and Bone Collector.
As expected, the Anaconda hitmaker brought on her superb artistry on a 22-track compilation.
The titles of some songs on the work of art include Are You Gone Already, Barbie Dangerous, Beep Beep, Fallin 4 U, Let Me Calm Down Feat. J. Cole; Pink Birthday, Needle Feat. Drake, Cowgirl Feat. Louridz and Big Difference.
The Bed of Lies singer had described the album as one of the best albums of all time, and that perhaps is evident in reception from the fans so far.
Nicki Minaj’s 2010 Pink Friday album had songs like Right Thru Me, Girls Fall Like Daminos, I’m the Best, Roman Revenge, Save Me, and many others. The album received positive reviews and was nominated Best Rap Album at the 54th Grammys in 2012.
Super Bass, a single on the album, peaked at No.3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and entered the top ten worldwide, while five other singles were within the top 40 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.
Nicki Minaj also took a promotional tour in October 2010 to push the album. Pink Friday debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200, selling 375,000 copies in its first week —the second-highest sales debut for a female rapper since Lauryn Hill. The album later peaked at No.1, becoming Minaj’s first number-one album.
