Nicki Minaj has swiftly addressed a new legal challenge, facing a $5 million lawsuit from a longtime fan.
On August 25, TMZ reported that Tameer Peak, a self-identified supporter of Minaj, has filed a lawsuit against the rapper in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Peak claims to have suffered reputational damage, emotional distress, and financial loss due to Minaj’s actions.
According to the lawsuit, Peak, who has been a fan for over 15 years and actively promoted Minaj’s latest album, Pink Friday 2, alleges that Minaj began disparaging him around 2017.
During this period, referred to in the lawsuit as the “Nicki hate train phase,” Minaj reportedly accused Peak and others of being “paid moles” attempting to undermine her.
Peak claims that Minaj invited him to her hotel with the intent to publicly humiliate him on Instagram Live, where he was broadcast to 100,000 viewers. He also recounts an alleged physical altercation with her husband, Kenneth Petty, at a Super Bowl event in 2020, an incident Minaj supposedly referenced in a direct message.
Additionally, Peak alleges that Minaj disparaged him in her live chats on X (formerly Twitter), making remarks about his mental state and calling him a “stalker.” Peak further claims Minaj accused him of impersonating her team members.
In response, Minaj’s attorney, Judd Burstein, has dismissed the allegations as baseless and intended to extort money from the rapper. Burstein asserts that Peak has a history of harassing Minaj online and that his current claims are legally frivolous. The attorney added that Peak will likely face financial repercussions for his actions as required by California law.
This lawsuit follows a recent legal victory for Minaj, who settled a separate defamation suit with blogger Marley “Nosey Heaux” Green. In that case, Green was found to have falsely accused Minaj of drug use, and the terms of the settlement included a ban on further defamatory statements and substantial financial penalties for violations.
