Nicki Minaj has announced that she will no longer release a deluxe edition of her highly anticipated album, Pink Friday 2.
Instead, the rap superstar has revealed she is working on a new project for her fans. The Young Money artist took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the news, stating that the new music she has recorded is too iconic to be added as extras on a deluxe version of her recent release.
Minaj explained that while initially planned to release the ‘Pink Friday 2’ deluxe, she decided it wasn’t the right direction. According to the rapper, the songs she recently recorded were so special that they deserved their own spotlight, leading her to scrap the deluxe edition and focus on delivering a full, new album. She assured fans that new tracks like ‘Mamita’ and another referred to as the ‘anxiety’ song would still be part of her tour performances.
Minaj emphasized that she wants to treat ‘Pink Friday 2’ with the respect and care it deserves, stating that adding too many new tracks to the album would feel sloppy. She has also learned valuable lessons from her experiences and is committed to making every decision with intention. For her, releasing a separate album is the best way to ensure that both ‘Pink Friday 2’ and her upcoming project receive the attention they need.
The rapper’s change of plans surprises fans, especially after previously teasing a deluxe version called ‘Gag City Reloaded,’ which was scheduled for release on September 13. She also hinted at a potential collaboration with the late Juice WRLD, though it remains unclear if that track will make it onto her next album.
