Method Man, the legendary rapper and actor from the Wu-Tang Clan, is facing accusations of assault after an alleged altercation at a Crunch Fitness gym in Staten Island, New York.
According to reports from The NY Post on Thursday, January 16, the 52-year-old artist, born Clifford Smith Jr., allegedly punched Patrick Sokoya, 28, seven times in the face during the incident.
Sokoya, who reportedly dated Method Man’s daughter, Cheyenne, nearly a decade ago, claimed the assault left him in pain and feeling dizzy. However, he refused medical attention following the alleged attack.
While a complaint was filed with the New York Police Department, no arrests were made. Method Man’s attorney has strongly denied the allegations, stating that his client has not been taken into custody and rejects the claims as reported.
Cheyenne, who goes by the stage name Chey, has recently embarked on her journey in the music industry. The rising rapper has already earned recognition from veterans like Trina, who brought her on stage during a sold-out concert in Detroit last year.
Visibly thrilled by the experience, Chey expressed her gratitude on social media, calling it a milestone in her burgeoning career.
Despite being the daughter of a hip-hop icon, Chey is determined to carve her path in the industry. In past interviews, she emphasized her commitment to hard work and not relying on her father’s fame for success.
While she acknowledges her dad’s unwavering support, she remains focused on proving herself as an artist.
Method Man, widely respected for his contributions to hip-hop and acting, has maintained a low profile recently, focusing on his family and various creative ventures. The accusations have not prompted a public statement from the rapper, aside from the comments made by his legal team.
