American rapper, Megan Thee Stallion, is set to release a new single titled Cobra on Friday, November 3, 2023, and fans are already on edge for the tune.
The Hip-hop star, known in real life as Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, announced the release on her X (Twitter) account on October 28, 2023, showing teaser videos and posing in snake-like photos.
The song, titled Cobra, is said to be Megan’s first solo release since her album Traumazine, which dropped in August 2022. The album had songs including Consistency, Ungrateful, Sweetest Pie, Flip Flop, and Scary.
Cobra will be the first release by the Girls in the Hood creator since she left her former label, 1501 Certified Entertainment.
In 2020, Megan Thee Stallion filed a suit against her record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, to renegotiate her contract.
Fans are already excited about the upcoming single, urging the public to support the new project, although some are not too sure what the composition would sound like.
Some fans believe that the song will be a copycat of Nicki Minja’s Anaconda anthem which became somewhat irresistible to fans across the world.
Megan asked fans to pre-save Cobra on streaming platforms ahead of the release, barely a week from today. “I’m gonna have this on repeat everywhere; you deserve all the success,” a follower wrote.
“Can’t wait to do my first official Megan Thee Stalion remix with this one,” another added.
Media reports indicate Megan Thee Stallion has settled the legal battle with her former record label, as the artiste announced her decision to go independent.
She explained not wanting to sign on to a new label because she wanted to do it herself. “I have no label right now and we’re doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pocket so the budget is coming from me.”
“I’m so excited to be doing something for the first time since it was just me and my momma. It’s really just me until we sign to a new label,” she reportedly said on Instagram Live.
