David Banda, an offspring of American singer, Madonna, went public to talk about some personal challenges but was quick to clarify that he is “very happy” with the support of his parents.
In a recent Instagram Livestream, the 18-year-old opened up about being “homeless” and unable to afford food, after he started living on his own after high school.
He said he was sharing a home with his girlfriend and it was somewhat difficult to afford food.
“It’s lovely to experience it being 9 o’clock at night, me being hungry and realizing that I don’t have enough money to get food…we don’t have enough food in the house and [are] scavenging…it’s fun,” he said.
Following the livestream, his followers inferred that he was not receiving help from his mother, Madonna. However, David clarified the comments, saying he is “very happy” and his mother was “very supportive” of him.
“To all of those concerned, my mother is very supportive of me. She has always been supportive of me, I am very happy in my life and I am not living out on the streets, starving! Please stop worrying, everything is good,” he wrote.
Other outlets corroborated Banda’s clarification that he and his siblings were being catered for by their mother, and even played a role in crafting Madona’s recent ‘Celebration’ world tour. Madonna and his ex-partner Guy Ritchie adopted Banda in 2005.
Last week, Madonna announced that she was rewriting the script for her biographical film, titled Who’s That Girl — named after her 1987 album of the same title.
In June, fans who sued the Holiday singer over the late start of her concert said they were no longer pursuing the case, and withdrew it from court on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
A letter following the decision said the dismissal “was not the result of any settlement” between the singer and the aggrieved parties. Counsel for the plaintiffs gave other technical legal reasons why they did not want to proceed with the case.
In April 2024, plaintiffs filed a case against the American singer over what they describe as “false advertising”, after they attended a concert by the singer in December 2023.
They claimed Madonna’s ‘Celebration Tour’ started “too late” hence their decision to proceed to court.
