Lizzo recently contacted fellow rapper Yung Miami for a candid conversation after comments about her weight loss sparked a misunderstanding.

The exchange followed Yung Miami’s appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, where she discussed societal pressures on women’s bodies, including Lizzo’s transformation.

In the podcast episode, Sharpe posed a question to Yung Miami, whose real name is Caresha Brownlee, about whether society pushes women to undergo cosmetic procedures like Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs), fillers, and facelifts to conform to beauty standards.

Miami affirmed, “Yeah. Uhm Hmm,” before elaborating: “When you got a natural body, you look like a little boy. You don’t have no sex appeal. … When you do get the BBLs, it’s like, ‘Oh my God. Your body’s fake.’ If you’re natural, they hate you. If you got a BBL, they hate you. What do you want?”

She then referenced Lizzo’s recent weight loss as an example.

“Everybody was like, ‘Oh my God. She’s so fat.’ She looks so good now, now it’s like, ‘Oh my God. Eww,’” Miami said.

Sharpe chimed in with online criticism he’d observed, such as, “She done had surgery. She done got lipo,” to which Miami responded, “Yeah. It’s like, ‘Oh my God. She needs to stop.’ Like, pick a side. What do you want?”

The remarks caught Lizzo’s attention, and during a Twitch livestream on March 22, 2025, she reacted to an edited promo clip of the interview. Lizzo explained that the version she initially saw cut off at Miami’s “ew,” prompting her to skip the full context.

“I never went and watched the whole conversation after that,” she admitted. Determined to address it directly, Lizzo called Yung Miami live on stream. Though the first attempt went unanswered, a second call connected the two artists.

When Lizzo asked what Miami meant by “ew,” the rapper clarified: “Before your weight loss, people used to be like, ‘Oh my God. She needs to lose weight. She’s too fat. That sh*t not cute.’ That’s what I was pertaining to, that part. That was the ‘ew’ I was pertaining to.”

Lizzo responded, “Actually, I thought you were saying I got too little,” revealing her initial misinterpretation.

Miami quickly reassured her, “Noo. I was saying people will always have something to say. It’s like you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. That’s what I was trying to say.”
