Lil Wayne has secured his second diamond plaque for the hit track Love Me, featuring Drake and Future. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) officially certified the 2013 collaboration as having reached 10 million units sold on Monday, September 30.

This milestone comes less than two years after the hip-hop icon received his first diamond plaque for his 2008 smash Lollipop, which hit the same milestone in December 2022.

Released as part of Wayne’s 2013 album I Am Not A Human Being II, Love Me marked Wayne’s 18th top ten hit and became a significant moment in Future’s career, landing him his first top 10 hit. The song peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained Future’s most successful single until the release of ‘Mask Off’ five years later in 2017.

Lil Wayne’s Super Bowl snub

While the recognition for Love Me is undoubtedly a high point for Lil Wayne, it arrives during a challenging time for the artist. Recently, he expressed deep disappointment over not being selected as the halftime performer for the 2025 Super Bowl, set to take place in his hometown of New Orleans. Instead, the NFL has chosen Kendrick Lamar to headline the event, which has sparked outrage among fans and fellow artists.

In response to the announcement, Wayne shared his feelings in a heartfelt Instagram video, thanking his supporters for their encouragement. He candidly discussed the heartbreak of the Super Bowl snub, revealing that he had mentally prepared for the opportunity. Wayne acknowledged that the disappointment hurt deeply, especially considering the significance of performing in his home city.

The reaction from the music community has been overwhelmingly supportive, with artists like Birdman, Juvenile, Master P, and Boosie Badazz voicing their disapproval of the NFL’s choice. Among the most vocal was Wayne’s protégé, Nicki Minaj, who took to social media to express her frustration over the decision.
