Lil Wayne’s absence from the Cash Money reunion at Essence Festival has left fans puzzled. Despite performing solo at the New Orleans festival, the “A Milli” rapper was notably missing from the Cash Money 30th anniversary celebration. The reunion featured appearances from Birdman, Mannie Fresh, and fellow Hot Boys Juvenile and B.G.
In an Instagram video, Lil Wayne explained why he did not join his former labelmates on stage. He mentioned receiving a message from a fan who expressed disappointment at his absence. Wayne, puzzled by the message, responded casually, indicating he was unaware of any planned reunion.
Although Lil Wayne did not explicitly mention Birdman or the other artists, he did acknowledge the performances at the festival. His solo set lasted around 20 minutes, following Birdman and the rest of the Cash Money crew’s performance. After Wayne’s set, all but Juvenile returned to the stage for a final song.
Wayne’s set featured the Young Money logo instead of the Cash Money emblem, highlighting his current affiliations.
Another notable absence was former Hot Boy Turk, which Juvenile addressed on social media. Juvenile implied that Turk’s absence was due to his own actions and choices.
Turk had previously stated he would not be attending the festival, citing business reasons. These developments have cast doubt on the much-anticipated Hot Boys reunion tour and album, which seemed promising earlier this year. Juvenile’s comments and the absence of both Turk and Wayne from the Cash Money set have further cooled expectations.
