The Argentine prosecutor’s office has released the preliminary autopsy report for singer Liam Payne, who passed away on Wednesday, October 16, after falling from a hotel on the third story.
The singer suffered from both inside and exterior damage.
The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office of the country released a press release in Spanish the following day, stating that the preliminary investigation indicates the former member of One Direction was by himself and possibly under the influence of drugs when he collapsed at 5:07 p.m.
According to the autopsy, Payne’s body was examined by forensic physicians on Wednesday night from 9:45 p.m. to 11:05 p.m. in the Judicial Morgue.
The musician had 25 injuries total, including to his arms, abdomen, and skull, which they determined were consistent with those from a fall from a height.
Taking into account the posture of his body, they also observed that he showed no indications of defensive wounds on his hands. It is possible that he was partially or completely asleep when he fell. No evidence of outside interference was discovered either.
According to the article, an inquiry into the star’s death and the possible involvement of a third party is still ongoing by the detectives.
Investigators interviewed with five people on the night of Payne’s death, according to the report. These individuals included two ladies who had been with the singer in the hours prior to his fall and three hotel staff members.
Investigators also discovered items in the room that initially looked to be alcoholic beverages and drugs.
To ascertain the degree to which drugs and alcohol may have contributed to Payne’s demise, the experts are currently awaiting results from additional toxicological testing.
