Ms. Lauryn Hill and The Fugees have secretly canceled their much-anticipated joint Miseducation Anniversary Tour, slated to take place throughout the summer and fall.
On Tuesday, August 6, Live Nation sent texts to ticket holders stating, “Your event has been canceled.” Your account will shortly get a refund. There was no explanation provided for the cancellation as of the time of posting.
The tour was scheduled to begin on Friday, August 9, in Tampa, Florida, and continue for many months until coming to an end on October 22 at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam.
The tour, which featured tracks from The Fugees’ No. 1 album The Score and featured Hill’s son YG Marley as the support act, was meant to bring Hill and The Fugees back together to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Billboard 200 No. 1 album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
Back in November last year, Hill disclosed that she was having voice problems, which led to the postponement of the Miseducation Anniversary Tour.
“As many of you may know, I’ve been battling serious vocal strain for the past month. I made it through each show by taking prescribed prednisone, but this can be detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time. In order to prevent any long-term negative effects on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so that I can discontinue the medication completely, she wrote on Instagram at the time.
